Viva Jacó: What to Know Before You Stay
Viva Jacó is a resort-style condo complex on the north end of Jacó Beach. It's one of the larger developments in town, with multiple pools, a gym, and direct beach access. The scale of it means there's always something going on, which suits some travelers and not others — worth knowing before you book.
The Property
The complex has several towers of condos arranged around a central pool area that runs down toward the beach. The pools are well-kept and the beach access is genuinely convenient — you walk through the complex and you're on the sand. Units range from studios to three-bedroom layouts. Most have full kitchens, air conditioning, and a balcony or terrace. The gym is small but functional.
Beach Access
This is Viva Jacó's strongest card. The north end of Jacó Beach tends to be a bit less crowded than the center, and having direct access from the complex means you can drop your things and be in the water in two minutes. The surf here is consistent — good for lessons in the morning, more powerful in the afternoon. Ask the front desk about current conditions before you go in.
Around the Complex
The main commercial strip is about a ten-minute walk south. There are a few restaurants and a small market within a shorter walk of the complex, which covers breakfast and basics without needing to go far. For a proper dinner or a night out, you'll want to head into town. Taxis are easy to find at the entrance.
Good to Know
Viva Jacó can get busy during Costa Rican holidays and the December–April high season. The pools fill up and the beach in front of the complex gets lively. If you're visiting in the green season (May–November), you'll have more space and lower rates. The complex is well-suited to groups and families who want amenities and beach access without the noise of the town center right outside the door.
