Your Digital Concierge: Everything You Need for Jacó and Herradura
Two beaches. Two completely different trips. That's the thing about the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica: Jacó and Herradura sit just minutes apart, yet they pull in different crowds for different reasons. Knowing which one fits your style, and having someone to handle the logistics, makes all the difference.
That's exactly what our Digital Concierge is for. Available around the clock, it connects you with trusted local operators for everything you need, before you even land.
Jacó: Energy, Surf, and Nightlife
Jacó is the kind of place that doesn't slow down. The main strip hums at night, the surf breaks are consistent year-round, and there's always something going on. It draws surfers, solo travelers, and groups who want a beach town with a pulse. Restaurants spill onto the sidewalk, bars stay open late, and the whole place has an easy, social energy that's hard to find elsewhere on the Pacific coast.
If you're here to surf, our concierge can book you with certified local instructors on Jacó Beach, whether you're picking up a board for the first time or looking to sharpen your technique. ATV tours through the jungle and coastal trails leave from here too, and the views from the ridgelines above town are worth every bump in the road.
Herradura: Calm Water, Big Fish
Drive ten minutes north and the vibe shifts completely. Herradura Bay is sheltered, the water is calm, and the marina at Los Sueños is one of the best sport fishing ports in Central America. This is where serious anglers come. The Pacific waters off the Central Coast hold sailfish, marlin, mahi-mahi, roosterfish, and yellowfin tuna, and the local captains know exactly where to find them.
Half-day and full-day charters run out of Los Sueños with experienced crews who've been working these waters for years. Whether you're after a trophy sailfish or just want a morning on the water with a line in, our concierge handles the booking. You show up at the dock; the rest is taken care of.
Herradura also suits guests who want a quieter stay. The bay is calm enough for paddleboarding and kayaking, and the pace is slower than Jacó without feeling remote.
Getting Here from the Airport
San José (SJO) is the main international gateway, and the drive to Jacó or Herradura takes around 90 minutes depending on traffic. Liberia (LIR) is an option if you're flying into the northwest, though it adds time to the Central Pacific coast.
We arrange private airport transfers in air-conditioned vehicles with on-time pickups. No waiting for a shared shuttle, no haggling at the terminal. Book through our concierge before you travel and your driver will be there when you land.
Day Trips Worth the Drive
The Central Pacific is a good base for some of Costa Rica's best destinations. A few worth planning around:
Manuel Antonio — About an hour south of Jacó. One of the country's most visited national parks, with white-sand beaches, monkeys in the trees, and good snorkeling just offshore. Go early to beat the crowds.
La Fortuna & Arenal Volcano — A longer day, roughly three to four hours from the coast, but the payoff is real: a still-active volcano, hot springs fed by geothermal water, and the broad blue expanse of Lake Arenal. Worth an overnight if you can swing it.
Lake Arenal — On its own, the lake is worth the trip for windsurfing, kitesurfing, and fishing. The road around the lake passes through cloud forest and small towns that feel a long way from the beach.
Our concierge can arrange private guides and transport for any of these. Tell us where you want to go and we'll put together the day.
Book It Before You Land
The best charters, guides, and transfers fill up, especially during high season. Our Digital Concierge is available 24/7 so you can sort everything out before your trip, not scrambling the morning you arrive.
