One-bedroom stays in Herradura for a Los Sueños fishing week

If you're fishing out of Los Sueños and want a one-bedroom to come home to, we have 6 in Playa Herradura: Zen Den, Rose Room, The Sunflower Suite, and three stand alone cabinas on the Zenergy grounds, Cabina Bamboo and Cabina Hibiscus. All five sleep two. All six have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, free parking and a pool on the shared property. There's also Cabina Plumeria, a one-bedroom that sleeps three thanks to a day-bed, if you want somewhere to put a third person who isn't fishing.
That's the short answer. The longer one is about what a fishing week actually demands from a rental, and it isn't square footage.
The boat leaves early, and that changes what you need
Charters out of Los Sueños push off in the dark. You'll be up before the kitchen in any hotel is open, back in the afternoon smelling of diesel and sunscreen, and asleep earlier than you'd expect. The practical consequence is that the room matters less than the things around it: a coffee maker you can work half-asleep, a fridge for the night-before water and beer, a washer and dryer for salt-stiff shirts, somewhere to park a rental car you'll be moving at five in the morning.
Our Herradura one-bedrooms all carry that kit. Each has a microwave and coffee maker, a washer and dryer in the house, free parking and air conditioning. Nobody books a fishing trip for the laundry, and then on day three it's the thing they're grateful for.
The other thing worth knowing is that Herradura is quieter than Jacó, which sits about ten minutes down the road. Jacó and Herraura have real grocery shopping, the AutoMercado in Herradura and Mas x Menos in Jaco, so plan one run there at the start of the week and stock the fridge. Around the marina itself, Marina Village keeps you fed without a drive: Dolce Vita opens at six in the morning, which is the only place nearby that's awake before most charters, and The Hook Up sits on the second floor above the marina entrance looking down at the docks, doing burgers and tacos until ten.
The six one-bedrooms, side by side
They sit close together and share grounds, so the differences are small but real.
Worth knowing:
The three bedrooms are set within the main house, each with its own vibe. The main house kitchen, living room, laundry, and patio are all shared common spaces. Rose Room and Zen Den share a bathroom unless they are reserved together.
Cabina Bamboo, Cabina Hibiscus, and Cabina Plumeria are freestanding on the shared Zenergy property, each with a patio set around a large pool and gardens. If you want a door that closes on the world and a space that's yours alone, that's the place to look at. Bamboo has the longest review history of anything we run in Herradura, which tells you something about how long it's been doing this job well.
Zen Den, Rose Room, and Sunflower Suite are single rooms in the main house, not a cabina, and that's the real decision
For a solo angler or a couple who'll be on the water most of the day and asleep by nine, that arrangement is barely a compromise, and it's the lightest-footprint way to base yourself in Herradura. For anyone who wants to cook breakfast at four in the morning without waking a houseful, take a cabina instead. Zen Den also doesn't accept pets, where Bamboo and Hibiscus do.
If two of you want privacy from each other rather than from the house, the two rooms book together as Zen Den and Rose Room, each with a lock on the door, room-darkening shades and the bathroom shared only between the two. That's a two-bedroom, so it's outside what you asked for, but it solves a particular problem: two fishing friends who'd rather not share a bed.
Travelling with a dog, or a third person
Cabina Bamboo, Cabina Hibiscus, and Cabina Plumeria accept pets. That's unusual enough in this corner of Costa Rica to be worth saying plainly, and it's the single fact most likely to decide your booking if you're driving down with a dog in the back.
For a third traveller, Cabina Plumeria is a one-bedroom with a queen plus a day-bed, sleeping three, which suits a couple who want lounging space or a pair of anglers bringing a non-fishing partner. Plumeria and Bamboo also book together as a two-cabina pair sleeping five, which is how most small boat crews end up booking: separate front doors, same pool, one barbecue area between you for whatever came home in the cooler.
Go bigger than that and you're into Zenergy Casa & Cabinas, the whole property, six bedrooms and thirteen beds across the main house and three cabinas, with its own outdoor pool. That's the full-boat booking: one house, one driveway, everyone awake at the same ungodly hour.
The days you're not on the water
Fishing weeks have weather days, and Herradura handles them better than most bases. Carara National Park is the serious birdwatching nearby, close enough that people walk the trails in the morning and eat at Marina Village the same evening. The Tárcoles River crocodile cruise and Vista Los Sueños Adventure Park, which runs ATV, horseback and canyon tours, are both standard day trips from here. Manuel Antonio is further south and makes a long day, not a casual one.
On the grounds, each of the three one-bedrooms comes with a bicycle, which is the easiest way to get around Herradura without starting the car. All three also have a dedicated workspace, a detail that matters more than it sounds: half the people who book a week of fishing are stealing it from a working month.
One note on timing. The Los Sueños Triple Crown runs its three legs between January and March, and the whole bay fills up for them. If your trip overlaps, book well ahead.
Where to start
If you're a couple or a solo angler who wants your own patio and front door, start with Cabina Bamboo, Cabina Hibiscus, or Cabina Plumeria; the three are close siblings, and the choice usually comes down to which is free on your dates. If you're travelling light, happy with a shared kitchen, and want the simplest base in Herradura, Zen Den, Rose Room, and The Sunflower Suite do the job. If there's a dog in the plan, it's a cabina.
We manage these ourselves, with a team on the property, and you book direct with us: no platform in the middle, no platform fees. Tell us your dates and which days you're on the water, and we'll tell you honestly what's open.
