One-bedroom stays for two near Jacó and Herradura

Short answer: yes, and there are four of them. In Garabito, the canton that holds Playa Jacó and Playa Herradura, we list four one-bedroom stays: the Zen Den, the Rose Room, the Sunflower Suite, and Cabina Plumeria. Three sleep two. Cabina Plumeria sleeps three. The first three sit inside Zenergy Casa & Cabinas, which is where the interesting part of this decision lives.
Four rooms, one property, three different beds
The Zen Den, Rose Room and Sunflower Suite are all rooms within the main house at Zenergy Casa & Cabinas, booked individually. That sentence does more work than it looks like it does, because it changes what you're buying. You get a private bedroom with a lock on the door, a patio and garden outside it, a shared kitchen that's fully set up, free parking, and a pool area with a shady gazebo where other guests will be sitting too.
The beds differ, and for two people that's the whole conversation. The Sunflower Suite has a king and its own ensuite bathroom, decorated with custom Costa Rican art. The Rose Room has a plush double, a reading nook and a well-lit desk. The Zen Den, the calmest of the three, has a full bed, a writing desk and its own reading nook, and shares a bathroom with the Rose Room. If you're a couple who wants a door that closes on a bathroom as well as a bedroom, book the Sunflower Suite. If you want the quietest corner of the house and don't mind the arrangement next door, the Zen Den has the better reading chair.
Couples who want the room to themselves and nobody else in the kitchen should look at Cabina Plumeria instead. One bedroom with a queen, plus a day-bed, a patio, and a garden view. The day-bed is why it sleeps three, and it's also why couples take it: somewhere to read in the afternoon that isn't the bed you sleep in.
What the Zen Den actually gives you
Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a desk, a kitchen with an oven and a stove, a washer and dryer, bath and bed linens, free parking, a patio, a garden, a community pool, a mountain view and a bicycle. The spices and coffee maker mean you can cook the first morning without a supermarket run. For anyone working part of the trip, the dedicated workspace is in the room rather than down a hallway, which matters when you're on a call at eight and someone else is making breakfast.
If you're here for birds, a bicycle and a quiet patio are a better combination than most people expect. The forested slopes behind this coast are what put scarlet macaws over Jacó in the late afternoon, and Carara National Park sits on the road north towards Tarcoles, with the Punta Leona Wildlife Refuge along the same drive. Herradura is maybe ten to fifteen minutes up the coast from Jacó, and Los Sueños Resort and Marina there is where sport-fishing boats run from. If a captain wants you on the dock early, Herradura-side stays will cost you less sleep than Jacó-side ones.
Pets, and the honest situation
Pet owners need to read this part carefully. Pines & Beaches lists pet-friendly options across the portfolio, and in Garabito the properties whose records allow pets are the larger ones: Zenergy Casa & Cabinas, the six-bedroom house that sleeps thirteen, and Condo Jadura in the Viva Jacó tower. The one-bedroom rooms inside the main house at Zenergy are listed as not allowing pets.
So if the dog is coming, the shape of the trip changes. Condo Jadura is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit on the sixth floor with rainforest-covered mountains on one side and the pool deck below, steps from Jacó Beach and the restaurants along Pastor Diaz: Sepalo, Ambrosia Cafe, Vivace. The building has a dog park. It's more space and more money than a single room, but it's the stay that takes the dog, and two people rattling around a two-bedroom condo in Jacó is hardly a hardship. Message us about your pet before you book rather than after.
When one bedroom isn't the right size after all
A few travellers arrive at "one bedroom" by arithmetic rather than preference, so it's worth knowing what sits just above it.
Zen Den and Rose Room books the two adjoining rooms together, sleeping four, with the bathroom shared only between them. Two couples travelling as one party, with no stranger in the shower queue.
Condo Jadura: two bedrooms, sleeps five, in the heart of Jacó with three pools, a gym and coworking space in the building.
Condo Brisa: three bedrooms, sleeps six, in the quieter northern end of Jacó, with the mountain views that bring the macaws past the terrace. No pets at this one.
Zenergy Casa & Cabinas: six bedrooms across a main house and three guest cabinas, sleeping thirteen, with a large pool and an onsite team. For a group that wants everyone under one roof and a crib for the youngest, this is the house to beat.
What to settle before you book
Rates, minimum stays and open dates move week to week in Garabito, so write to us with your dates and we'll tell you what's genuinely free rather than what a listing page guessed. Two things worth raising in that same message: whether you want a private bathroom or will share one, and whether a pet is travelling. Those two answers narrow four rooms to one faster than any filter.
Who you're booking with
We manage these homes ourselves, on both coasts of our small world: pines in Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona, and beaches here in Puntarenas. At Zenergy there's a team on site, which is the difference between a locked box of keys and someone who can tell you where the macaws were yesterday. Booking goes direct, with no middlemen and no platform fees, so the price you're quoted is the price of the room.
And once you're here: Herradura's long stretch of dark sand, with parking right on it, is the beach for a slow day, while Jacó is the one with the bars and the late dinners. Manuel Antonio is a longer run south if you want a day of it, and Playa Hermosa is a quarter of an hour down the coast when the surf is up.
